Lesson Learned…

Uk_map We learned an interesting lesson in Geography today when Joe, a reader from the United Kingdom left us a comment about our last post that read:

That’s an interesting project, but one niggling point – the BBC is not an English news site but a British one, hence the name British Broadcasting Corporation – those of us in the other parts of the United Kingdom also receive (and pay for) the BBC.

And you know something….we’re sorry for our error!  We often forget that "England" doesn’t mean the United Kingdom.

Question for our non-British readers:

How many of you have mistakenly used "England" when referring to the United Kingdom or "The United Kingdom" when talking about England?  How about your parents—could they use the term "England" properly?  (Go home and test them today!)

Question for our readers from the United Kingdom:

Do "Britain" and "The United Kingdom" mean the same thing?

Cool questions….we’re listening!

most of the old folks in my family refer to the UK as london. i live in aberdeen in scotland (part of the UK) and most of them still think its same as london. it couldnt get funnier than this.
