The EU? What is So Great About IT?

Culture is burning in the capital of Greece! Athens winds are picking up and the lands are being threatened by wild fires. This isn't the first time it has happened. Many people are fleeing Athens, but as far as they go, you can still see the dark overcast of smoke hovering over Greece. Some of the population decided to stay and help save their house's. Those who stayed are trying hopelessly to put out the fires. As these people work with no equipment other countries in the EU come with firefighters and air planes full of water they spray on the land. These wild fires are starting to be controlled with the help of the EU.

What is important about the EU helping Greece, is if there was no Union like the EU the other countries might not care if Greece was burning. It was not there problem so they probably would stay out of it. The EU shows how other countries need to help those in need. Even if you are far away from what's going on you still should care, because places around the world show culture and we don't want to lose that. For example, Athens is very important to us because we got democracy and Art from them, this would be considered our culture. Also every place shows their own style. For Athens, it is great structures and thinking. So next time you see a place in trouble, think to your self should I care? Well lets just say, what happened to Greece, I care.

Sam, I think your post is well in thought and opinion even compared to my recent post. I agree that if there were no EU, Greece may have not received support from the other countries located in Europe. Greece was the birth place of democracy, the Olympics, great artists, mathematics, legends, and builders. I think a country like Greece should definitely be helped in a time of need! Although, others might say that the most amazing things only came from the ANCIENT Greeks and that in modern times, Greece should usually be defined of a more ordinary country in the EU than in the past. How do you think leaders from each country in the EU found the idea to form this regional integration, or partnership of the EU?

I believe that if the country is still using this culture than it does not matter if you say ancient or not. If I told you when it started, then it would matter. Banana Perspective also asked a really good question: How do you think leaders from each country in the EU found the idea to form this regional integration, or partnership of the EU? I found this website about why. But I don’t believe it that much so I will go into further study and here is the article I don’t really believe: http://www.ucnet.biz/European-Union/How-did-the-EU-start.html. I don’t believe it because at the end it says Turkey is part of the EU, and Banana Perspective I learned in school that turkey cant be part of the EU till the problem in Cyprus is fixed. Do you think the website is speaking the truth?
